Hi
    I have a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Player and a Technics sx-PX552/M digital
piano, the piano has a midi interface. I am trying to get it to work with
ALSA 0.9.0beta12, i am running debian woody with the 2.4.16 kernel. I have
managed to get the soundcard to play midi files though speakers plugged into
it, by loading a soundfont, but am unable to recieve input from the
keyboard. The alsa modules that i have loaded are:

alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 snd_device_mode=0660
snd_device_gid=81 snd_device_uid=0
options snd-emu10k1 snd_index=0 snd_id="EMU"

I have tried lots of different music synthesis software including NoteEdit,
Brahms, RoseGarden. I have also tried 'cat /dev/midi' but i get nothing. Is
there something else that i need to do to get midi input to work?

Thankyou

Charlie
