Hi! alsa 0.9beta12 here, with a 2.4.8-based kernel. SB Vibra16X card. I load "snd-sb16", kernel says everything ok, and alsamixer works as well. However, no sound is coming out of it and it behaves strangely. When I run mpg321 e.g., it waits about 10 seconds, then decodes very quickly (without audible output), then it freezes for about 5 seconds again, and that's it.
It isn't caused by compilation (the same binaries are used on several "thin
clients" with root mounted over nfs and work well with other cards), or
hardware (tried on 2 completely different machines).
