Ok,
I have a dvd-rom drive that i have connected the digital out (2-pin) to
the cd-in connection on the RME9636. I am sure that the hardware is
corrected properly.
However I get no sound when playing cds in XMMS or DVDs in Xine. Paul
Davis thought that you could to connect this to a cd-rom drive output,
but i have called a few vendors and the believe this is not the case.
Therefore I am convinced that there is a setting in asound.state that I
need to set, but I'm not sure what it is.
Here are my asound/state settings:

doing a proc /proc/asound/card0/rme9652 i get :

ok what attracts me attention is that I have set the IEC958 (coax)
connection to internal, which i belive to be the cdrom connection. I'm
not sure what passthu is supposed to be set to.
Any ideas?
