Hi,

I am using Redhat 7.2 with the latest updated kernel 2.4.9 from
RH. Since I have upgraded my kernel I have lost my sound. I had
compiled alsa packages previously successfully.

I known that if I have changed my modules I need to recompile the
alsa packages. I does not work. Here is the output when I try to
start alsasound:

[root@localhost init.d]# alsasound restart
Shutting down sound driver: /usr/sbin/alsactl: save_state:963: No soundcards found...
done
Starting sound driver: snd-card-intel8x0 /lib/modules/2.4.9-31/misc/snd-timer.o:

/lib/modules/2.4.9-31/misc/snd-timer.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.9-31/misc/snd-timer.o
failed
/lib/modules/2.4.9-31/misc/snd-timer.o: insmod snd-card-intel8x0 failed
done

Any idea what is wrong here?

Thanks.
