I am battling to install a SP Vibra PCI128 which I think is an es1371
sound chip.

I believe the following command confirms that I have both alsa and my
es1371 correctly installed:
/etc/alsa/modutils# /etc/init.d/alsa start
Starting ALSA sound driver (version 0.9.0beta12): (ens1371)
--------------
However, when I run alsamixer, it fails:
/etc/alsa/modutils# alsamixer
ALSA lib control.c:601:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default

alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or
directory
--------------

Can someone confirm that I have a valid install, then tell me what I
need to next.

Thanks
John Batistic
