Hello,
I am having problems recording using alsa-09rc1 and cmi-pci card, with oss
modules loaded.
At first I thought I was getting empy .wav files when I tried to record using
either arecord or ecasound, but I found out that if I turned the
amplification up on my speakers to where a normal sound file would shake the
rafters I could hear the output (barely). By amplifying the input with
ecasound more than 500% I can get a file which is barely audible at normal
volumes. Amplifying 900% gets a nearly usable file, above that I get
garbage. I have set Mic Boost to true in /etc/asound state, which gives me a
dead slider in alsamixer. Browsing the source code (IANAP), it doen't look
like there is any way to add an integer range to Mic Boost. The mic works
fine through the speakers, so its not the microphone(s).
