Both load clean, and after doing the snd-pcm-oss, i seem to be able to access
/dev/dsp . mpg123 says:

Playing MPEG stream from Tribe Called Quest - Award Tour.mp3 ...
MPEG 1.0 layer III, 128 kbit/s, 44100 Hz joint-stereo

Well, that's good, however, there's no sound. Remembering that the ALSA mixer
starts muted, i used "alsamixer" to turn up the levels for "Master", "Master
M", and "PCM". Still no sound. :(

In case it helps, lsmod gives:

Module Size Used by
snd-pcm-oss 35136 0
snd-es1968 13456 0
snd-pcm 48160 0 [snd-pcm-oss snd-es1968]
snd-timer 10032 0 [snd-pcm]
snd-ac97-codec 22864 0 [snd-es1968]
snd-mpu401-uart 2560 0 [snd-es1968]
snd-rawmidi 12352 0 [snd-mpu401-uart]
snd-seq-device 3792 0 [snd-rawmidi]
snd 24528 0 [snd-pcm-oss snd-es1968 snd-pcm snd-timer
snd-ac97-codec snd-mpu401-uart snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device]

Wow, i bet that won't format nicely without fixed-width.. in any case, i did
*not* compile alsa with legacy OSS support. I don't know if that would help
at all, however, i'm going to give it a shot anyways.

Thanks for the help so far!
