Hello, I have compiled the 0.9rc1 alsa-sound drivers for my Crystal Semiconductor soundcard: cs4236 on a Red Hat 7.2 system. When I try to run alsamixer I get this error:
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: sound protocol is not compatible any ideas? My basic problem is that everytime I reboot the system the sound is muted again. I can run "gmix" which is a basic mixer with Red Hat and it un-mutes the sound, but I have to run it after every reboot.
