I have tried to install three versions of ALSA, the debian package for 2.4.16-686-smp kernel I am running, from the source, and from CVS. Each time I get something that goes wrong.
I will focus on the source installation from the 0.9.0rc tar balls. The latest problem seems to be that when I run ./configure from the driver directory, it seems to be performing actions on the kernel of my 2.4.18 source and/or modules. I was using 2.4.18, but for reasons I won't go into, I went back to 2.4.16-686-smp (Debian). My symlink points to 2.4.16 and uname -u verifies I am running 2.4.16, but even after passing the argument --kernel-dir=/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.16, it still performs action with 2.4.18. I am using Debian 3.0 (Woody) on a dual 1-Ghz PIII box with 768 MB of RAM. Any help given would be greatly appreciated, Matt Mannikka Detroit "Go Wings!" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
