Hi,

I'm using SuSE-8 with a Terratec EWX 24/96 sound card.
When I installed SuSE it worked fine...I didn't have to do anything. But
after a while it has just stopped playing any sound.

When I try: alsasound start
I can see that it is already loaded.

When I look in YaST2 I can see that I have: "[0] ICE1712[Envy24] Running"
(also, 'Start Alsa' and 'Start Sequencer' are checked'), but when I click
on Test, or when I try and play any sound-files, I just hear nothing at
all.

From 7.3 in the mini 'how-to' it mentions a 'muting' facility so I thought
it was worth a try (maybe an application has muted my soundcard?) but when
I try the commands (either with or without the 'set' option) I get an error
(see below, could be a red herring?).

Can someone enlighten to me as to what could have stopped (or rather,
muted?) my soundcard and how I can get it back working? (there is nothing
in /var/log/messages and the card appears to have started...)

Thanks in advance....(so close to being able to bin-off Windows.....)
