I found the problem, the appropriate sound card is snd-maestro3 for ESS Allegro. I tried with snd-pcm-oss and snd-oss-mixer modules for OSS emulation, but it still doesn't worked. Can anybody help me.Do i need to do anything extra like specifying IRQ etc, am a novice, pls help me in this regard. However i was successful with other machine which has Intel sound card ac '97.
