both cards have been supported for almost same time.

digital i/o should work on both.

the cm8x38-based cards are really cheap.  you might get one under $30
with full digital i/o.  but the quality of analog i/o of cm8x38 is far
worse than ice1712.  if you need _only_ digital i/o (spdif), its a
great card, though.
