Hi again everyone, well, I think I'm getting closde. I couldn't get the cvs source to build for me, but fofllowing the quick install instructions on the WIKI I got everything to compi le. The only problem now is that I can't insert the via8233 module into the kernel. I get this here as a response:
/lib/modules/2.4.18hotplug/kernel/sound/pci/snd-via8233.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters/lib/modules/2.4.18hotplug/kernel/sound/pci/snd-via8233.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18hotplug/kernel/sound/pci/snd-via8233.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.18hotplug/kernel/sound/pci/snd-via8233.o: insmod snd-via8233 failed Is this a problem with devfs (which I may or may not be running, I don't even relaly know what it is)? thanks AGAIN!!!, matt On Fri, 2002-07-12 at 14:35, Paul Winkler wrote: > On Fri, Jul 12, 2002 at 07:44:14PM +0200, Frans Ketelaars wrote: > > You only need soundcore as a module (compiled in the kernel is also > > possible as far as I know), > > FWIW: I had some trouble recently with sound support built in. > after some back-and-forth emails with Takashi, the problem > evaporated when I changed to building as a module.
