Hi everybody;

I'm having trouble installing the ALSA drivers for the ESS Maestro II card.
Everything compiled without errors, but I couldn't get the module to load. This is
the error I get:

root@trane(vi_jedi)$ modprobe -t misc snd-card-es1968
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd-card-es1968.o: init_module: No such device
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd-card-es1968.o: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by
incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd-card-es1968.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd-card-es1968.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd-card-es1968.o: insmod snd-card-es1968 failed

I set up /etc/modules.conf in the fashion the of the doc.

I'm not very good with this sysadmin-type stuff and am not sure what the problem is.
In a possibly related note, I originally had soundcore.c compiled into the kernel, but
modprobe complained about about unresolved symbols. I compiled the modules and that
was the only error that I recieved. I'm also confused as to why that happened. Sorry
to bother you with such newbie-like questions, but I'm stuck and any help would be
greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

tejus
