I did not compile with --with-oss=yes option.. These are the options I passed to the configure script : ./configure --with-isapnp=yes --with-sequencer=yes --with-debug=full --with-debug=detect
alsamixer works, I get the little terminal GUI and I am able to adjust the volume; aplay works, that is I do not get an error back, but also I do not hear any sound.. Thanks Faruk G.
