Hello:

I'm new to this list and to ALSA (but not to linux or compiling) so
forgive me if I do not know the protocol.

I'm using linux kernal 2.2.20, a coustom kernel I compiled myself with
modular sound support. Presently I use the stock OSS/free drivers for my
AWE32 sound card. Things work in the OSS/free world.

In attempting to compile the alsa-driver-0.9.0rc2 that I downloaded I
get the following compliler errors (the tail end here):

rm -f snd-emu8000-synth.o
ld -r -o snd-emu8000-synth.o emu8000_synth.o emu8000_callback.o
emu8000_patch.o emu8000_pcm.o
emu8000_pcm.o(.modinfo+0x0): multiple definition of
`__module_kernel_version'
emu8000_synth.o(.modinfo+0x0): first defined here
emu8000_pcm.o(.modinfo+0x1e): multiple definition of
`__module_using_checksums'
emu8000_synth.o(.modinfo+0x1e): first defined here
make[2]: *** [snd-emu8000-synth.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/alsa-driver-0.9.0rc2/isa/sb'
make[1]: *** [_modsubdir_sb] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/alsa-driver-0.9.0rc2/isa'
make: *** [compile] Error 1

I've tried compiling on a different machine and I get the same error
(the other machine has an awe64).

I'm at a total loss. Any help would be appreciated.

Paul
