Hello,

I'm not sure that this problem is actually caused by ALSA, but I thought maybe someone
else had experienced similar problems. I've been using ALSA with my Gentoo linux
system for months without trouble, using my motherboards built-in audio, so I don't
think there's anything wrong with the software setup.

I recently got a Hercules Game Theater XP 6.1 sound card for my computer. It uses the
cs46xx driver and works very well with the latest cvs ALSA system, apart from the fact
that the whole system just freezes sometimes while playing sound. It's pretty
non-deterministic, it usually happens after a few hours of playing mp3:s, or halfway
into a movie, but it's very unpredictable. This made me suspect that I had some kind
of hardware conflict, but no switching around of pci cards has helped. Also, there
seem to be no problems under Windows XP.

My hardware:
 VIA8363 based motherboard (Matsonic MS8127C)
 Duron 800Mhz
 AGP NVidia GeForce 2 MX400
Hercules Game Theater XP 6.1 sound card
 RealTek RTL8139 network card

Any clues?

Thanks, Johan Forsberg
