Completely remove old modules in this directory by
typing
rm -rf /lib/modules/(your kernel version)/misc
Compile the driver with these options.--with-moddir=/lib/modules/(your kernel version)/misc
--with-kernel=(your kernel source dir path)
--with-cards=(your sound card chipset name)type ./configure --help to see the
rest of the options. And while you are in the driverCompile alsa-libs with the
dir type ./snddevices
kernel option above. No options are needed on alsasnd-(your card chipset name)
utils. Edit modules.conf (look at examples in
google.com) Then modprobe soundcore, modprobe
start alsasound. IE redhat
/etc/rc.d/init.d/alsasound start .Unmute the
alsamixer./usr/bin/alsamixer
Thank you a lot. It doesn't work. I've done everything as you said, and modprobe soundcore was done. But Debian 3 cannot find module snd-fm801 (my chipset is fm801). I located snd-fm801.o, as Bob Lockie suggested, and did /modprobe snd-fm801/ and also /modprobe snd-fm801.o/ to be sure, but the response is :
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-card-fm801
Can you help a little more, please ? I really can't go through it. Thanks.
