Hi,

I have Debian SID (unstable) booted from LoadLin with modular ALSA, and a ymfpci (ymf740) sound. My kernel is 2.2.20. Back in my stable days, I had ALSA working, but sporadically. Often, my KDE would error out, generating a SIGSEV fault. The games would sometimes play the sound, and sometimes wouldn't. So anyhow, I decided to upgrade everything to the latest to get a more consistent performance.

Now, however, nothing plays. During the bootup process, I see the following:

ymfpci.o --> is found with Interrupt 11

ALSA generates an error: "modprobe: can't locate module snd".

Now, it is possible that during the upgrade something got uninstalled and not properly reinstalled. Or this could be just a bug... I dunno.

But can anyone offer me suggestions? When I try to google, I can't get through the dross. There's too many other errors involving those words and more.

- Michael
