I am having a problem with my system.
It actually happened due to a crash while using oss.
The system froze immediately. After rebooting
everytime i started the oss sound drivers the system
froze.
I changed to an older kernel, 2.4.10 stock from SUSE,
recompiled my kernel, 2.4.19, (also removing all but
the minimal collection of modules needed). Nothing.

Now I have installed alsa, but exactly the same
problem. The modules don't freeze the system, but as
soon as i try to play a sound file, using eg.
ecasound,
the system freezes dead.

Where can my problem be??
I have something corrupt, but what? The BIOS maybe?
I'd like to be able to solve this without reinstalling
the entire system if possible.

thanks for listening and for any help.

Martin
