It works fine for me. you need to check the sample rate, and set it to that which you desire to record - in the envy24control panel , hardware settings or something like that. This will take care of the problem of playback rate.
For the volumes, again in the envy24control panel go to the page with the volume gain sliders and set those of your input lines to a decent non-zero value. this should fix everything.
