Hi,
my sound card on a sony fx702 laptop (with VIA 82C686)with debian gnu
linux does not work.
I tried kernel 2.4.19 with alsa version 0.9.0rc5.
modprobe snd-via82xx
yields:
/lib/modules/2.4.19-k7/alsa/snd-via82xx.o: init_module: No such device

You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
