Hi there, first the info: OS: SuSE 8.0 sound: Onboard AD 1885 (ac97)
Suse configured my soundcard just fine when I installed suse, but after I recompiled my kernel my sound gave many errors and was of a terrible quality or didn't work at all. Now I removed the alsa software installed by yast and I downloaded the latest software. After installing it I get this error: # modprobe snd-intel8x0 /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: invalid parameter parm_snd_cards_limit /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: insmod snd-intel8x0 failed The lines from /etc/modules.conf about the sound: -------------------------- alias char-major-14 off alias sound off alias midi off alias char-major-116 snd options snd-intel8x0 snd_ac97_clock=0 snd_enable=1 snd_index=0 options snd snd_cards_limit=1 snd_major=116 # W60f.23PpdzLUHU9:82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0 alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-11 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss -------------------------- My guess is that these first 3 options and snd_cards_limit are not right but I don't have a clue what it should be and whether it is the only problem Thanks in advantage, Wouter ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility Learn to use your power at OSDN's High Performance Computing Channel http://hpc.devchannel.org/ _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
