Thanks mate. :)

Okay, I think there were compilation errors, any use
of alsa programmes ends in a segmentation fault, so I
took the liberty of copying some errors down.

*** these were errors that occured during the make
install script ***

depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.18-3custom/misc/snd-dt019x.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.18-3custom/misc/snd-dummy.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.18-3custom/misc/snd-emu10k1.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.18-3custom/misc/snd-emu8000-synth.o

This is just a few bits cut out of a whole line of
errors, my sound card's an SB Live!, so I grabbed the
part with emu10k1 and some of the errors around it
(long list).

*** this is from alsaconf****
Loading driver..
ALSA driver is already running.
Setting default volumes..
./alsaconf: line 1: 5859 Segmentation fault
amixer set "$1" "$2" unmute >/dev/null 2>&1K, driver
snd-emu10k1 is configured. ALSA x
===============================================================================
x I'll run 'alsasound start', then I'll use
amixer to x
Now ALSA is ready to use.lt volumes. You can change
the volume x
For adjustment of volumes, please use alsamixer or
gamix.

Look at the segmentation fault, something screwy's
going on there, during compilation I'd say. Any idea
what's going on? And is there some pre-compiled
binaries for the driver I could use, for RH?

Cheers again! :)
