Hello List,

first the system:
it's a debian woody with self-compiled 2.4.19. Soundcard is:
00:0d.0 Multimedia audio controller: Ensoniq 5880 AudioPCI (rev 02)

It ran with alsa-driver-0.5.12a, alsa-lib-0.5.10b and alsa-utils-0.5.10
(using the es1731 module), but it had the sound hanging when high CPU
load (and sometimes even without). Then you had to wait about 2 minutes
and it run again.

So I thought I could try with the latest CVS as I made very good
experiences on other machines. Doing a make uninstall in alsa-lib and
alsa-utils and removing the modules from /lib/modules/2.4.19/misc I
thought this should be enough as an uninstall.

Getting the CVS, resolving the dependencies I get the following error:
In file included from cmipci.c:1:
../alsa-kernel/pci/cmipci.c: In function `snd_cmipci_create':
../alsa-kernel/pci/cmipci.c:2957: warning: assignment from incompatible

make[1]: *** [compile] Fehler 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/sources/sound/alsa-driver'
make: *** [build] Fehler 2
eva:~/sources/sound#

I do not really have a clue what to do about? Thanks for any
suggestions,

mfG Johannes
