Right now both of these are muted on my card and

Err, what? you just said you had to unmute them for left and right to work :-)

I guess I did not make it to clear in my last post that I have fiddled around 
with all the mixer settings and none of them work; I have of course already 
tried unmuting them. Just now I tried it again both ways, still nothing. Any 
more ideas?

I have looked at that, it didn't offer any helpful information. It just simply 
dones't work. :-/
