Hi, I'm trying to get alsa installed on my HP Kayak XU 800 under Redhat 8.0. I've installed alsa 0.9 rc7 on my machine, and added the following to modules.conf:
# ALSA portion alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-cs46xx # module options should go here # OSS/Free portion alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 # card #1 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss lsmod tells me that the modules are all installed. I've can run alsamixer, and I have turned off the mute on all channels. There's nothing unusual in dmesg that I can see. But I don't get any sound from any apps at all! I don't know what I should be looking at or for to further diagnose the problem. If anyone can offer any assistance, I'd really appreciate it!
