I'm trying to get alsa 0.9.x installed on this Dell Latitude C610 laptop that uses onboard AC97 sound.
No matter what release of 0.9.x I get from the website or CVS, I always have the same problem. The module is built and loaded correctly(I assume, it doesn't give any errors), but when I go to run the utilities to unmute the card, everything that is compiled with alsa support segfaults immediately after starting. A gdb trace returns with the same general problem.."Cannot find user-level thread for LWP 8904: generic error" Just recently, I have noticed that if I use the dummy driver instead of the actual alsa soundcard driver, I can get these apps to start up, and I can modify settings and whatnot, but occaisionally they randomly crash with the same debugging error. "Cannot find user-level thread for LWP xxxx: generic error" Is this a library problem as I think? Or does the intel8x0 module just not have the stability that it should yet (these ARE prerelease packages..) Either way, I'm out of ideas. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SlickEdit Inc. Develop an edge.
