I /think/ I posted earlier, but mabye it didn't go through, i haven't gotten any replies to date.
I'm running slack 8.1, trying to install alsa 0.9.x. It doesnt' matter what package I get from the download page, or from CVS, I have the same problem. I download the package(or CVS), and install in this order: Libs, Module, and finally, Apps. No errors at all during the compilation process. I 'modprobe snd-intel8x0' and the module loads without any errors (some messages are returned, I'll get to that later). Now for the juicy part, when I got to use the alsa-utils to unmute my sound card, every utility that I use segfaults right after it is started. A gdb trace returns this output: <snip> [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gdb amixer GNU gdb 5.2 (gdb) run Starting program: /usr/bin/amixer [New Thread 16384 (LWP 2828)] Cannot find user-level thread for LWP 2828: generic error (gdb) </snip> I have no clue what that error means. I've been told that amixer doesn't use threads, but I don't know. A bit of info about my setup. - lspci - 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio (rev 01) Subsystem: Cirrus Logic: Unknown device 5959 Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11 I/O ports at d800 [size=256] I/O ports at dc80 [size=64] - uname -a - Linux dellerium 2.4.20 #3 Mon Dec 30 21:11:50 CST 2002 i686 unknown That's all the info I can think of that would be pertanint at the moment..if anyone needs any extra info, I'd be glad to oblige. fuxxy irc.gammaforce.org / #projectgamma ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
