Okay, Here's my situation and I'm hoping someone can offer some advice. I have an ECS L7VMM motherboard with onboard sound using the vt8233. I'm running Mandrake 9.0 currently. With the default alsa installed (I believe its 0.9rc2) I get some sort of stuttering from aplay. It just repeats the first 1/2 second or so over and over again until I get the following error message from aplay:
aplay: pcm_write:write error: Input/output error!

So, I thought that I should upgrade to the latest. I then installed 0.9rc7 and changed modules.conf to use snd-via82xx. Same problem. Then I read a message that said that rc7 has a bug in it with via82xx so I went back to rc6. STILL same problem. So finally I tried the latest CVS code and did a make and make install of the alsa-driver-* And what do you know...STILL same problem. If anyone could lend me a hand I would greatly appreciate it. I'm still a linux newb so It's possible that I missed something obvious. Thank you much in advance,
Mark
