I had something similar happen with my pc - it has 2 sound cards in it like yours. Check out /proc/asound/cards - you'll probably see the onboard sound card as card 0 and the quattro as card 1. If you see the setup above, load the modules for the onboard sound card *after* those for the quattro, the numbers are allocated on-the-fly and I think XMMS may be using card 0. If you do *not* see the quattro in the cards file then, well, that's another story. A laptop can be a very difficult place to learn Linux. Before attempting to get the Quattro working I'd be sure some other USB device (e.g. a USB mouse) works correctly, which is a story for another newsgroup :). I'm not sure how or if the kernel USB support is linked to the ALSA ez-usb stuff, but I'd guess that they are. HTH - JB PS: with all the modules loaded, do you see any USB modules? # John Bleichert # http://vonbek.dhs.org/latest.jpg ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
