Try restarting the driver after it gets first loaded. Appearantly some XFire 1024 Boards don't get initialized properly the first time. This subject comes up here on regular basis but nobody seems to have a clue why it happens. For me that workaround works. Maybe you are also one of the unlucky XFire owners who has to do this.
