Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has this combination of hardware working with Linux
sound.

It seems to work with RH 6.2 (also works with BeOS !?)
However RH7.3 and RH8.0 do not work after the installation.

I have compiled the latest (?) alsa-xxx-0.9.0rc8b (for xxx = driver, utils,
lib) and created
several modules that seem to install fine.

/etc/modules.conf has been updated according to the ALSA, Intel MX440 docs.

Problem: modprobe snd-intel8x0 generates the following error message:

/lib/modules/2.4.18-3/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: init_module: no such
device

All the other modules seem to install:
snd-pcm-oss
snd-pcm
snd-ac97-codec
snd-seq
snd-seq-device
snd-timer
snd-page-alloc
snd-mixer-oss
snd

So, are there special command line parameters to insert this module ?
Is there another module lurking somewhere I don't know about ?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Ralph Stickley
