You shouldn't need to modify anything to get multiple opens in xmms. Both the OSS plugin and alsa-xmms support multi-open without modification. alsa-xmms: http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/alsa-xmms/ > On another note, can/how do i control the "versa jack" under Linux? I am using digital (S/PDIF, orange connector) out, but haven't tried digital in, and the center and LFE channels aren't supported yet. In short, for digital in just enable "IEC958 Output", I haven't tried IEC958 input, and center and LFE aren't supported yet so don't worry about the "5.1" setting you have in the Windows driver. With ALSA you don't need to think of it as a VersaJack, just use the card.
