Hi, Anything is possible in Linux I suppose. My thought would be that possibly you don't have the right kernel source, or the right kernel configuration, as opposed to the right kernel.
If you're up for it, you could download 2.4.18-14 from kernel.org, compile and tun that kernel, and then compile the driver against that kernel source. That way they would HAVE to match up. Keep in mind that I know nothing about software development, so this could all be wrong and a waste of time. Everything in Linux it hit-and-miss, obtuse, unknown, and generally you're lucky if you get it working. Unfortunately, there is no way for mere mortals to figure this stuff out, as best I can tell. I'm not willing to invest the time or effort to become a software guy. (Eyes glaze over....boring...) I've never succeeded in building Alsa and getting it to work. Developer types told me that it's all my fault, but couldn't tell me why. I eventually gave up and decided to use PlanetCCRMA which works great, except you tend to be a few weeks behind on things like Alsa and Jack. Think about going that way Mark On Mon, 2003-03-24 at 21:37, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Thanks for the reply Mark! > > with both rh73 and rh8.0 i did a clean install and compiled the alsa drivers. > i got the same results in each case. > > hmmm.. i might be reaching in the dark here, but would it be possible > that the RH installer installed the correct kernel (amd athlon xp) > but copied intel kernel sources? just a thought. > > On 24 Mar 2003 at 20:43, Mark Knecht wrote: > > > Hi, > > I don't use this card, but this sort of message is usually caused > > by > > a mismatch in the kernel you are running vs. the kernel source (or C > > compiler) that you have used when compiling the drivers. > > > > Since 2.4.18-14 is RH 8.0, did you compile on this machine using > > the > > right kernel source?
