I tried installing a soundfont, but still no sound. I'm using
2gmgsmt.sf2, which I believe is the default one under Windows.

BTW IIRC not all soundfonts worked on sblive, I think I had to use the one that starts with 8 (talking about soundfonts from cd, don't remember whether it was sblive cd or sb awe 64 cd)


I'm wondering if there's an easier way to check MIDI - I'm trying Muse
and RoseGarden, but might not be configuring them properly. I don't seem
to have a simple MIDI player.

pmidi, it's very basic midi tool for alsa, not sure where to get it, in debian there's a package pmidi-0.9
