Hi, I have a Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun and alsa 0.9.3 on RedHat 9. I use gnome-alsamixer for setting the volume and there's a switch in gnome-alsamixer called "IEC958 Input". I guess that's what you're looking for. So, you might wanna try upgrading to alsa 0.9.3 and/or try gnome-alsamixer.
