Well, limited success on my part (alsa on Mandrake
9.0).

I installed 0.9.0rc6 and now can get some sound out of
my laptop.

The sounds I get are:

1. a constant buzzing noise.
2. A repeating loop, that sounds vaguely like music
(like some 60's avant garde stuff:')

The looping 'music' happens radomly? Like when I
switch xterms? Couldn't really pin it down.

alsamixer shows everything at 100% Set amixer to 100
for Master, Headphone, PCM and unmuted these.

using mpg123 or aplayer doesn't produce any noise.

Any hints on how to make some progress at this point?
