What is causing these errors to appear in the syslog file when the alsa snd-via82xx sound is started and moudules loaded?

Jun 23 11:55:16 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module snd-card-1
Jun 23 11:55:16 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module snd-card-2
Jun 23 11:55:16 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module snd-card-3

And these also to appear sporadicaly:
Jun 22 10:09:00 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-slot-1
Jun 22 10:09:01 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-1-0
Jun 22 10:09:01 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-slot-1
Jun 22 10:09:01 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-1-0
Jun 22 10:09:04 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-slot-1
Jun 22 10:09:04 misty modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-1-0

I only have one sound card snd-card-0, so why all the attempts to use 1 and above?
How do I stop these errors from happening?

It doesn't appear to cause problems, except for putting a lot of entries into the syslog file. But I hate unknowns like this.
