I am running Gentoo. I emerged alsa-driver, alsa-lib, alsa-utils, alsa-tools, and alsa-xmms
I can play CD with Grip but I don't hear anything from XMMS or any other app (although I can see the visualization in XMMS going when I play MP3 files)
What about play and aplay?
Is there something i have to turn on? I have played around with the channels through alsamixer. PCM, Master and CD are unmuted and set to 90.
Yeah. XMMS requires that you configure OSS or ALSA plugins -- make sure they're configured.
