Hello,

I had a problem with my on-board sound (wasn't able to solve it) and
want to buy an additional PCI sound card. The vendor of my computer
does not seem to be well informed about linux compatible sound cards
(he told me that the Soundblaster 128 and Live are no longer available,
but supported by SuSE Linux, and the Soundblaster 5.1 is available, but
not supported by linux).

I visited the SuSE hardware database and found out that the Soundblaster
Live is supported by SuSE Linux 8.1 (alsa version of SuSE rpm:
0.9.0.cvs20020903-13). That means that the Soundblaster Live card which
is described at
http://www.soundblaster.com/products/sblive/welcome.asp should
supported by my alsa version!? As there are some Sounblaster Live cards
not supported by the alsa driver (-> Dell, ...), I want to be sure that
this card works.

Does that Soundblaster Live! sound card (link above) work with alsa
(especially alsa 0.9.0)? Are there any problems? It will be great if
somebody tells me his/her experience with this sound card and alsa.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Christian
