my hammerfall is starting to drive me up the wall.... or perhaps it is the alsa drivers!
hdsploader gives me a segfault when I run it.
kernel 2.4.18, alsa 0.9.4 (0.9.3 does the same), gcc 2.95.4
I have 2 dell 8200 laptops with (supposedly) identical configurations. On one, alsa 0.9.4 drivers work fine for hdsp, and hdsploader works ok. But when I load up my onboard intel8x0 at the same time I can only access one card with "alsamixer -c x" ..... the card I can access is the first one I modprobed.
On my second dell 8200 ... the snd-hdsp module does not complain when it is loaded, it says "waiting for firmware", but when I run hdsploader I get a seg fault.
I have searched high and low for differences on the 2 machines. All I can find is that on the machine that works, I am using version 2.2.5 of libc (libm libdl etc.), and on the machine that doesn't work I am using version 2.3.1 (I dont yet want to downgrade for fear of breaking other things)
could this be the cause of the seg fault?
anything else I should try ?
