Since I bought my new mainboard (ASUS A7V8X), I had a nasty little problem
with the DSP.
The ALSA driver works perfectly, I can use all features of the VIA8235
(although the mixer devices are a bit complicated to use), almost all sound
plays fine and I love this nice multichannel-playback (several processes
using the DSP at once).
BUT:
When I play certain sound that have strong middle frequencies and almost no
bass (like classical or instrumental music) I get this absolutely
_terrible_ distortion (it sounds like an overdriven amp).
I had this problem earlier too, but back them I used a 44.1kHz sound card
and it happened only with 48kHz audio. Right now it doesn't matter if the
audio is 44.1 or 48, always when middle frequencies are stronger than bass
and treble, it distorts.
I finally want to get rid of that, since it's very annoying.
Do I have to set the AC97 clock to 44100 because the 8235 has problems with
48000? Or should I insert the alsa sample rate conversion plugin?

Thanks for the help.
