Hello list
I am using Suse 8.0 on an Amilo a 7600 Laptop. Yast2 recognizes my soundcard as an
ali5451... but everytime the alsa system tries to start it failes with the following
error:
sparc:/home/sammy # rcalsasound restart

Starting sound driver: ali5451Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than
/lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/modules.dep
/lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/sound/pci/ali5451/snd-ali5451.o: init_module: No such
device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO
or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/sound/pci/ali5451/snd-ali5451.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/sound/pci/ali5451/snd-ali5451.o failed

failed
Regarding the support database sdb.suse.de I should upgrade my alsa. This is what I
have done. But it didn't solve the problem. I am new to all this module stuff and my
question is: where can pass parameters to the snd-ali5451 module, for example irq
etc... would this solve the problem??
I have also tried alsaconf, which ends in the same error as above mentioned...
Hope someone can help me out with that wracky problem...
