I'm running Red Hat 9.0 (shrike), with a 2.4.20-18.19 kernel, on a HP zt1180 (VIA ProSavage PM133 Chipset, VT8605 Northbridge, VT8231 Southbridge, VT82C686 AC97 Audio), I'm attempting to install the .0.9.5 software. I am running all the commands as root. I followed the directions at http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php3?company=VIA&card=&chip=via82c686a&module=via82xx, including the ./snddevices command, and ran chmod to change the permissions. When I run modprobe snd-via82xx;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss, to try to insert the modules in to the kernel, I get the following:
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-via82xx modprobe: Can't locate module snd-pcm-oss modprobe: Can't locate module snd-mixer-oss modprobe: Can't locate module snd-seq-oss Any ideas as to what causes this problem? The drivers won't do me a whole lot of good if I can't get them to load in to the kernel.
