I've tried both running 'make install' and plain 'make'.
the error below is when I run make. if I run the 'make install' I get and error that it can't stat/ copy some of the kernel module files (this error comes relatively quickly)and it stops.

When I run 'make' the system churns away a while longer and stops with the error I mentioned earlier. If I try to run 'make' in the different directories it clearly looks like the problem is in ./drivers/ and with the serialmidi.o

I've tried re configuring and recompiling the kernel again in case there was something that I forgot to turn on etc, but the only thing I can think of now is that the ac4 patch from Alan Cox has done something that alsa doesn't like....

Any one else tried this or have any idea what I need to do?

thanks

I'm having problems compiling the alsa096 drivers for my 2.4.21-ac4 kernel.
I keep geeting errors like tis one:

serialmidi.c:158: invalid operands to binary >
[make1]: *** [serialmidi.o] Error 1
make: *** [Compile] error 1

what am I doing wrong?

My source for both kernel and alsa is installed outside /usr/src, but I tell the configure scrips where the kernel is...

any suggestions?
