WHich version of alsa?

I got various problem snd-intel8x0 with the new alsa
version in various boxes. One box use NVIDIA chipset
modules loads ok , no sound, can not test with several
version because the box is not mine, use oss is ok;
another, alsa.0.9.6 sound quality is bad, high latency
,can not record. Use alsa source from debian
(0.9.0-beta12) ; quality is somewhat better and can
record, but amazingly, use ancient one 0.5.12a ; all
are ok.

So I would suggest you try the older version one to
see if it is solved.

Regards,
