What exactly does "stopped working" mean? What happens when you run "aplay -D plughw:1 something.wav"? > If I type "cat /dev/dsp", I get "No such device". I guess that's the correct response when snd-intel8x0 isn't loaded. :) The USB device would be /dev/dsp1. (And I don't think you would be able to record from your speakers.)
