I *know* that MP3 is stereo. I also know that 5.1 channel AC3 is not. But
thanks for the information :).

AC3 playback worked perfectly using OSS. Now however, I get nothing but
stereo sound. And when I switch the font and rear channels in the player,
I hear only the rear channels from the AC3, duplicated over front and rear
speakers.

Thanx. But I would prefer a way that I can configure alsa so that all
mixers will see one master slider for font+rear volume.
