I've been struggling with ALSA on my system for a while now. I want to
use the system for MythTV so I need to be able to capture audio. I have
tried several versions of ALSA but the best I have been able to do is
hear audio but not capture. Anyway, I thought I could find a solution
be asking others with similar hardware how they have been successful (I
know you are out there). If you have the via 8235 chip working please
send me the following information: the version of ALSA, your linux
distro, your motherboard model, the relevant parts of your modules.conf
and lsmod, and any tricks that were required to get the system working.
I would be especially grateful for responses from people running the
same motherboard and/or distro as I am (Biostar M7VIP and RedHat9). If
I learn anything useful, I'll be sure to submit it to the documentation.
